Deeprose Family
Hello Melvyn

I think your grandfather Frank Deeprose was born In Ninfield in 1879, son of Jesse Deeprose and Hephzibah Hannah Roberts.

I have a lot of info (census, BDMs, baps, burials, etc) for the Deeprose families, if you'd like to get in touch.

E- mail cdlancaster at yahoo dot com

Kind regards
Caroline

Gander Family at Bexhill
I am interested in the Gander family at Bexhill, particularly descendants of Walter Gander (1823-1865) and his wife Emma Smith. Their surviving children were Anna Maria (b 1845), George Thomas (b 1847), Louis Henry (b 1849), Peter Newman (b 1851),and Walter (b 1860). Peter Gander had a carriers business in Bexhill (at Belle Hill and later at Station Road) until early 1900. Anna Maria and Louis Henry emigrated to USA.

Botfield Home
There was a nursing home called Botfield in Glyn Ascent I believe. Did you find it? Think it's a B&B now.

William Frank Lean
I have just discovered that my grandfather, whom I did not know, lived in Bexhill prior to his death in 1984. He is listed in the 1982 telephone directed at Lt. Col. W F Lean and resident at 17 Merton Ct, Sutton Place. His 2nd wife I only know as Mrs E C Lean (nee Bass) and I believe in '82 she was resident in Godstone.
I would be very grateful for any information regarding living relatives, gravestone inscriptions etc. Although born in Plymouth, he met and married my grandmother in Cape Town, South Africa, and later lived in Rhodesia prior to their divorce.
Currently I live in the USA, but would love to connect with any relatives on his side as I am trying to do my family history.

Percy Carreras Robin
I live in Lancashire so it's difficult to do my own research. I am trying to find information on Percy Robin and his second wife Lucy Evelyn Robin. They lived at Headland View West Parade, and Percy died here in 1967. The Archives have been very helpful and provided me with the obituary and address details. Percy appears to have been a prominent citizen in Bexhill on Sea. In WW2 he was Director of Shipping in the Ministry of Supply. He was born in Islington and became a charted ship broker with his own company Robin, Eggins in London. His first wife dies in 1956 and he married Mrs Lucy Evelyn Solomon in Rhodesia in 1958. (Not sure why as they both lived in Bexhill at this time). Percy was secretary of the Little Common branch of the British Legion, Committee member of Southgate Harriers, freemason to the Baltic Lodge, an member of Bexhill sailing club.

I am hoping to find a photograph of Percy and Lucy (especially Lucy - who used her middle name Evelyn). Bexhill archives have checked their index but cannot see any entries for them between 1958 and 1967.

Would anyone have any suggestions as to where I go from here?

Regards
Margaret

Dorothy (Dot) Levitt
Hi Suzy,
Sorry I've not got back to you sooner you but I've been on holiday and have only just picked up your message. Very little is known about Dot Levitt, but I'm doing a programme with the BBC this Friday about women motorists, featuring Dot Levitt, so I'm hoping that more information may emerge as a result. I've also included a short biography of Dot Levitt in my book Sussex Women, which was publsihed by Snake River Press a couple of weeks ago and might be of interest. You can get it in most Sussex bookshops. She seems to have come from the West County, was a 'works driver' for Selwyn Francis Edge, and wrote a marvellous book called The Woman and the Car, published 1909. I hope this is helpful. Ann
